I say versions are not decimal numbers; therefore 4.100 comes naturally after
4.90, but better would of course have been 4.5, 4.6, 4.6.1, ..., 4.10 etc.
However, some don't agree and others don't understand, and some of those who
both agree and understand feel that they have to comply with the popular
misconception anyway.

In the end, Marketing is to blame, of course.
