Jason, I see you have your solution (and a new memory test in the form of
gcc2.96).

We have the same compiler version number on
# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Linux release 7.1 (Seawolf)

# gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-85)

I'll test memory (ie compile Exim 4.02) later this morning, on several
machines.
