I don't have /etc/init.d/spamassassin file, thus I have tried with:

systemctl restart spamassassin

and now, my procedure is:
1) Edit my_custom_rules.cf file
2) Execute command: systemctl restart spamassassin

and inmediatly exim take note of changes

That's about right. If such an init script exists, that's probably it.

I'm not sure what you're looking for and how, when looking for the running processes. They might be named "spamd", and they are actually perl processes. They are rather big, too :-)
