I've been looking at Kerberos as a start to SASL authentication for
LDAP, and the Cyrus solution for POP and IMAP begins to look interesting
(I need Kerberos5 and SASL anyway for myself). It might be a way to go
for MUAs, but not for Exim, for which TLS and one of the other 3 AUTHS
is prescribed.
However, think what your MUAs can cope with. My own choices,
Evolution/Mozilla 1.1, can manage AUTHs and TLS for POP/IMAP and AUTHs
and TLS for Exim, but I'm almost sure they can't manage Kerberos.
I'm going to have a look at it, anyway - it's not something you can do
in one day's work.
Best,
Tony

The usefulness of RTFM is vastly overrated.
