A couple of fact corrections:
Reactors don't go bang - they are not capable of a bomb like reactions. (And
in terms of lives_lost/KWH they are by far the safest form of electric power
generation)
GUIs can help MTA managers as they do nuclear engineers. A well written GUI
can prevent inadvertent typos by ancient old MTA administrators. Just don't
get rid of the conf file - I always want a way to get around the unexpected
problem.
And as far as Rad hardened equipment for nuclear plant - this is not a
problem. You see nuclear plants have a lower background radiation level
than a coal plant which releases radon from the coal as it burns. Coal fired
plants cannot pass the radiation limits imposed on nuclear plants.
