Fsck reports all ok.
Aside from leaving tcpdump running in the hope it can capture the packets causing this problem, is there anything else I should be doing? - any exim or system debug logging which may prove useful? If it does occur again, hopefully I'll be able to reproduce the problem by replaying the senders packets to get all the debug logs necessary.
