Sounds like a packaging problem. As I can't find Exim in the CentOS 6
source RPM repository, can you please run:
rpm -qvi exim
and post the output? It'll be interesting to see who packaged it. Also
"yum search exim" might be instructive; I would imagine that there's a
package hiding somewhere with MySQL support.
