Exchange uses whatever the Exchange admin has configured.

Another common Exchange gaffe would be something like this:

From: Ingvoldstad, Jan <frettled@???>

Yup, unquoted comma.

Exchange admins can fix this, if they know their software.

My guess is that the same applies to dots.
