as i read, i'm recognizing my *real* driver ... that is choosing from among
the, apparently, many capable options that 'combo of stuff' most likely to get
support on any single list when problems arise.

altho i can't quantify it, my cursory read(ing) of messages *here* is that the:

    exim + exiscan (clamav directly first, then spamassassin)

approach best seems to fit THAT bill ...
