There are lots of chances between 4.* and 5.* releases.

Hum... I use both 4.10 and 5.2 and never had any problems with either.
A script is in a different place: big deal! If you really cannot cope
with that idea, just simlink it.

The port of Exim on *BSD is the easiest and simplest way to install Exim
I have ever seen. It's awesome.
