Agree on both counts. I've just upgraded a couple of our mail
servers to exim-4.14 + Tom Kistner's excellent exiscan-4.14-26 patch
+ spamd (SpamAssassin-2.53) + Sophos virus detection using the
sophie daemon + 4 sets of RBL lookups + use of Wirehub's anti-spam
lists. And these machines just purr away handling the vast majority
of our incoming and outgoing email. Admittedly it's outside term
time, but I don't see them breaking into much of a sweat during
termtime.

Exim is *definitely* a gem.
