Subject: RE: [Exim] exim 3.22 problem on solaris 2.6
I've only been able to test this on 2.6 so far, and due to the fact that the
delivery processes are so shortlived debugging becomes quite tricky, and tbh
I don't have the time right now to sit down truss'ing stuff on a production
system without having a fair idea how to reproduce it :P

We had to downgrade to 3.16 in the end and now all is ok... 3.20 also showed
this problem.

It's not every message that causes exim to do this, there doesn't seem to be
an obvious pattern, but we were seeing about 3 created every 5minutes or so.
The first 7 lines or so are:

The message id at the top *is* the message id of the filename
(155m7y-0004yd-00-D). This message id doesn't appear to be in any of the 3
exim logfiles.
I can send you the full-file offlist if you want. All the files created by
this bug are different but exactly the same filesize (that filesize seemed
to be different on the different servers we experienced this problem on).

exim was compiled using gcc without any special gcc flags other than those
exim's makefile includes itself. it was compiled on the same machine as the
3.16 build we are now using that has no problems.

hope that helps somewhat! :)

This is total rubbish. I have clearly had too much Californian sun. It
is true we haven't had the problem, but we did run 2.6 on some of our
servers for well over a year. (It's just on my desktop that I went from
2.5 to 8.)

However, I'd still like to know if anybody has seen the problem on any
operating system other than Solaris 2.6.
