We keep a check on user mailbox sizes. When they get ridiculous (usu.

way and we then wait until said user screams... it doesn't have to be
done very often, mind, as the default install of Eudora here has 'leave
messages...' unchecked.

If the POP system spots someone making excessive polls to the server it
will mail them (giving a count of the number of polls they did in one
hour) and ask them to reconfigure their mailer to a lower poll time or
contact the Helpdesk for details. We do however sometimes get stroppy
messages back from them about it (cf. the recent thread about replying
to automatically generated messages) The overhead of this isn't too
high, but I didn't write it and can't even begin to say what it does.
