I agree, but I was forced to implement 


{sender,recipient}_unqualified_{hosts,nets}

because the world doesn't work like that.

Our own users here in Cambridge, who grew up with a different mail
system (the old JANET "coloured book" protocols) got used to using
partial qualification. I know that they send mail with addresses like

user@??? or user@???

and expect them to get expanded to user@??? etc.

I wonder if there are other sites where this is the normal expectation?

I am very loath to make such a fundamental change unless there is
overwhelming demand for it, because I am scared that it will break a lot
of configurations. (Clearly it is no problem to me: I can change my own
configuration easily enough.)
