Ugh, that is indeed an unexpected wrinkle. Thanks for digging that up.
Apart from the test failure, does the inability to use MAP_JIT more than once
create any functional problems for PCRE2?
Since MAP_JIT is closely tied to the macOS hardened runtime, i.e. clients that
are thus built *must* use it, and all others *must not*, and given your
findings above, I'm starting to lean toward "user-specified option", but it
sounds as though we've reached the point where I can no longer usefully
contribute to the process. :-)
