and it does that in weird conditions like:

# exim -bpc
0

(silent)

# exim -bP spool_directory
LOG: MAIN
WARNING: purging the environment.
Suggested action: use keep_environment and add_environment.

spool_directory = /var/spool/exim

(complains)
