If I update testinput2 and replace /dev/null with testsavedregex and then also
modify testoutput2 and replace the corresponding entries around line 5618 with
the following one:

//KF>testsavedregex
Compiled pattern written to testsavedregex
Study data written to testsavedregex

all tests pass successfully here
