It was not skipping white space before the second + (i.e. the possessive one).
I have committed a patch that fixes this problem. However, it is documented
that PCRE doesn't necessarily recognize comments and skippable space in all the
places that Perl does, though I see that Perl is now giving a warning for /(
?>abc)/x and it doesn't recognize /(? >xxx)/x at all.
