If Exim gets an error code = 550, it stops sending immediately and returns a
bounce to the sender. However, if the error is one of those temporary ones,
then Exim will retry sending the e-mail until (by default, based on the
default retry rules) 5 days is over.
In my opinion, I think you do not need to customize anything to achieve your
desire.
