           Summary: Error in compiling
           Product: PCRE
           Version: N/A
          Platform: x86
               URL: ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: bug
          Priority: high
         Component: Code

Hi,

I have tried to compile this on my Red Hat Fedora 5 machine and it failed mid
way through the "make" command. Here is the end of the output of make, showing
the error that comes up is:

creating libpcreposix.la
(cd .libs && rm -f libpcreposix.la && ln -s ../libpcreposix.la libpcreposix.la)
source='pcrecpp.cc' object='pcrecpp.lo' libtool=yes \
DEPDIR=.deps depmode=none /bin/sh ./depcomp \
/bin/sh ./libtool --tag=CXX   --mode=compile g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.      -c -o
pcrecpp.lo pcrecpp.cc
libtool: ignoring unknown tag CXX
 g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -c pcrecpp.cc  -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/pcrecpp.o
./libtool: line 1325: g++: command not found
make[1]: *** [pcrecpp.lo] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/bcast/install/pcre-7.6'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Prior to running the "make" command, I had ran the "./configure" command (at
the end of this description) and I think this helps with finding the problem,
because when it checks for g++ and c++, the answer is no. For some reason, in
the configuration summary, it says that the C++ compiler is g++ !!

Please could you look into this and let me know what I can do about this. A
workaround would be great and a long term fix to the source code would be even
better.

Thank you,

rich_d_thomas@???
