As the components that go into a log entry are generally available
anyway, it isn't 'hard' to do it now.

Just a mite tedious. Also an extra (set of) points of failure, more
resource-intensive than bespoke 3rd-party app parsing and mining exim or
syslog flat log files.

And I'd expect everyone who wanted it to have their own preferences for
record design...
