Case 1: no idea, you're asking how assp will behave, not Exim. Exim's
logs show that it is talking to assp and assp then closes the
connection. But once Assp is accepting email, then this does show that
Exim will be _trying_ to deliver it.

Case 2: yes, after the retry timeout. The retry controls are documented
in spec.txt.
