I have committed a patch which should therefore be in tonight's snapshot. It is
a modified version of Brad's patch: I have not modified "endpass", I
re-arranged a couple of things, and I fixed a couple of bugs/anomalies that the
test suite threw up (use of released memory in one case). Note that the
documentation is in doc/NewStuff, not yet in spec.txt - but the spec will be
updated before the next release. Test, please, and let's get any further
problems ironed out.
