If you are using a CLI and a script to load it, you should see a message
indicating a problem in the configure file, usually with a line number, reason,
and such.

ELSE, look in ~/exim/paniclog, soemtime even in ~/exim/mainlog for a delayed
fail on an error not initially triggered.

Those trailing '## <advice string>' constructs in my example will NOT work in
Exim, but I had to advise that changes were needed there for your system.

How about this:

- remove or coment-out any such mods.

- see if Exim now runs.

- then post your 'working' router/transport section so we can suggest specific
modifications that fit your system.
