I'm guessing this thread is now long enough to get a history lesson.

The thread was originally started by Bradley Walker, who uses an
exim.conf file with his DirectAdmin hosting control panel
(http://www.directadmin.com/). I'm not affiliated with them, but I did
write the exim.conf file they use.

I can't make changes to it that don't work within their structure.

So far we've been lucky. We manage servers hosting thousands of domains
with probably tens of that many mailboxes, and our spam blocking works
well enough that our clients who's systems don't use SpamAssassin
aren't complaining.

We use Linux software RAID 1. Because it gives us full redundancy,
faster access, and immunity against kernel updates which tend to make
hardware RAID not work on all the cheaper hardware RAID controllers
(the ones that tend to be installed on the motherboards of our 1u
hosting server solutions).

Some of our servers use 4.60, but we don't force updates until we're
ready to install new solutions that require it, or we find bugs in the
old versions.

We can't use Cyrus 2.2 because we're "stuck" with what DirectAdmin
supports.

That said, we're happy with their newly integrated Dovecot support and
will start supporting it with our next release.

I thought this was covered in previous emails in the thread; I apologize
if it wasn't.

We're in the webhosting business, using the DirectAdmin control panel.

Control Panels have their postives and negatives, but we use 'em anyway
<smile>.
