as far as I know, this is the only thing MailScanner can do that you
can't do with just Exim these days. MailScanner may also have support
for more antivirus-plugins out of the box.

FWIW, we are moving away from MailScanner since the number of Word
viruses which can be disinfected is so vanishingly small compared to the
overall worm/virus load.
