My instinct is to never give in. We aren't that harsh, but we do require
valid characters in the helo string. I've had the odd complaint, but most
sites will fix their hosts when persuaded that:
1. It's easy.
2. It's required by the RFCs.
3. The only real fix is to fix their host, since they may have to persuade
others to make exceptions, too.
