IMO it is.
Razor (Pyzor and Distributed Checksum Clearinhouse [DCC]) all work in
a similar way: Somewhere there is a database containing checksums of
probably several million mails.
Each time a contributor recognizes and reports spam to one of the
corresponnding databases, other participants get the chance to raise
their "spam-catching-rates".

All the necessary checks can be run by SpamAssassin which can be
called from exim - now we're on topic again. ;-))

Some time ago, I configured my server here at home to include the
razor and DCC checks, and IMO I could improve my rate of spam
detection.

But I'm not yet running any of the checks "in production"...
