The server implementation is downright trivial. The client implemention
could be even simpler, but it's the key. It would be pointless to
implement the server side if no client author/maintainer is willing to
make use of it.

(The IMAP-PROXY proposal avoids modifying client & server, and instead
requires additional software on both the client & server.)

Huh? Now there you go confusing the issue entirely and getting lost in
unnecessary complexity. That comment is even more useless and counter-
productive than the real proposals (which address real requirements)
coming from the lemonade group.
