Someone using Outlook Express or an older Outlook won't be able to do
any AUTH mechanism other than LOGIN (and *maybe* PLAIN) and definitely
won't be able to do TLS on port 587.
Despite what some people say, in some circles all anyone knows is
OE/Outlook. When you mention Netscape, Mozilla or Thunderbird a common
response is "What's that?" Therefore, smtps on 465 is sometimes quite
necessary.
