FreeBSD 4.9 RELEASE on Intel PIII 1GHZ 1 GB RAM, 2 X 60 MB as ID RAID1
Exim 4.24_2 from the FreeBSD ports tree.
Bog-standard install, only flag as to build for (eventual) use with
PostgreSQL (which is already on the box).
Sendmail had been de-installed and its files nuked prior to Exim
installation.
Have created /etc/mail/mailer.cf, and /etc/periodic.conf with
recommended entries.
*BUT* - attempting to execute "/etc/rc.d/exim.sh start" returns:

run_rc_command: not found

- and fails to start Exim... (no lie! <G>)
Unable to find anything on any of this in an archive search, see nothing
like it in past 2 months 'eyeball' scan of the archives...
Where should I look first/
