Hi all,
I am trying to find out more about LMTP and when it is useful. I have
read section 4 of rfc 2033, and though that is a good starting point it
does not give much of an idea when LMTP is useful as opposed to SMTP. I
was thinking SMTP on a mail router, queuing email and LMTP on the users
home email file store. This would mean if we had several servers for
storing staff and student email we would not need to manage a queue on
any of them. The mail routers on the other hand have no users storage
but would handle all the spool queues. Does this make sense or am I
barking up the wrong protocol ?
