I see, so they have it in experimental.  debian's "pool" is where they keep
packages for woody, sid, experimental, sarge, and others.  If you look at
the Packages file, you'll notice something like:
Filename: pool/main/3/3dchess/3dchess_0.8.1-9.1_i386.deb
          ^^^^


They did it this way to keep from having symlinks all over the place.

Nope, not w/o upgrading libc6. I've done it on woody systems w/o problems.
I have one machine with packages dating back to when hamm (2.0) was
unstable and everything works.
