Well spotted! But how did they get there? Marc's previous message
contained this setting:

deny message = go away
        hosts = ${if exists{/etc/exim4/local_host_blacklist}\
                           {/etc/exim4/local_host_blacklist}\
                           {}}


I don't see any quotes there...

Or did you not post what you were actually using? :-)
