For a simple dialup - smarthosting at least - you have
http://www.hserus.net/exim.html - that, taken with the default
configure, should work quite well for you, assuming you have created
standard unix users (using useradd / adduser).
I don't do, or intend to do debian, and I wouldn't suggest using a
script, however good, to start a mailserver... come to think of it, I
wouldn't ever run a mailserver from inetd ... so no further comments
from me on eximconfig, it might be a pretty good thing for all I know.
Also - if you are not familiar with smtp and want to run exim, I suggest
you either use fetchmail and sSMTP / MasqMail etc (or even evolution /
outlook express etc) to get / send out your mail. Running an MTA and
complaining about unstructured (?) docs is not a convenient way for you
to go.
