[Exim] Does Exim auto strip subdomains?

Subject: [Exim] Does Exim auto strip subdomains?
In a follow-up to my original post yesterday, it was suggested to me that
exim is automatically stripping leading subdomains during sessions...

So mail sent to user@??? is immediately flipped to
user@??? instead.

I need Exim (3.36) to NOT strip the sub-domain name.

Any tips?
