Mark,
    Final question, what options did you call eximstats with? The eval statement which has the problem in is generated differently dependant upon what options you call eximstats with. Let us know the options, and we can output the generated eval code by using the (undocumented) -d (debug) option, and hence find the line with the problem and go from there.
