You were specific in the subject of the message - which for once I
noticed. (I have often been guilty in the past of missing a vital piece
of information - such as the Exim version number - that is only present
in a subject. It is so easy to do. Best to repeat all the info in the
message if you want me to notice. :-)

The SPA client support was provided by an Exim user who implemented it
by extracting the relevant code from the Samba project. I doubt very
much whether there is any suitably licensed code available for the
server logic. I suppose one could deduce it from the client code.

The motivation for client SPA support was that the user was on a network
where the servers required it, giving him no choice (and he wanted to
run Exim). What is the motivation for SPA server support in Exim?

As far as I know, it is not an RFC thing. It is a M$ thing. I don't know
if there is any public document that describes it.
