Is this really any better than not having the backup MX in the first
place? After all, if the originating server can't get to the primary
MX, then what are the chances a remote server can? Hmm, I suppose
people might have such a setup (maybe ipv6 or ssh tunneling or
something). I ask because I had my backup MX timeout on some messages
and bounce them just like the server they came from would have done.
When I made the other domain a local domain the messages were
delivered locally and wouldn't timeout. Perhaps I did something
wrong, though (other than having a primary MX disconnected for too
long ;-)).
