You do not say how this email originates. If you are passing it to Exim
via the command line (i.e. not SMTP) see the -oi option. (This is
indexed under "dot handling" in the manual.) If you are passing it to
Exim using SMTP, lines beginning with . should be prepended by another .
(see RFC 2821).
