It's probably needed for outgoing mail. As I understand it, TMDA works
by generating random sender addresses for outgoing mail --
eg. "gward-a9de32f8498a3b2cd49823" instead of "gward". With Exim, you
have to be a trusted user to set the SMTP sender address. I'm not sure
what else trusted_user buys you -- RTFM if you're worried about granting
yourself too much privilege.
