I use Michael Tokarev's tinycdb (
ftp://ftp.corpit.ru/pub/tinycdb/)
and happy with it. tinycdb, comes with its 'cdb' tool. I use it to
generate cdb maps.
For example,
% cdb -m -c aliases.cdb aliases.txt
