[Exim] exim -bV returns bad command

Subject: [Exim] exim -bV returns bad command
I have run make & make install. both appeared to run flawlessly. I then
tried to verify the integrity of the install with exim -bV. this
returned the message command not found. (I have linus rh6.1 on a p90.)
What should I look for next?
