Suggest you use ${quote_ldap:$local_part} to avoid problems.

People playing silly games. People trying to get you to relay what you
shouldn't. People testing to see if you're an open relay...

Bugs are always possible, but I suspect it's more likely to be dodgy
clients or people playing games.
