Assumpte: [Exim] Delay-Warnings although mail is frozen?
Dear Folks,

happy new year. A mail sent to one of our MTAs got frozen
because of the lowest MX point to the localhost. Standard
thingie. The customer got the domainname registered but never
wanted to configure any email setup. That happens not too
often so we don't care 'bout it.

Now we saw, that Exim sends delivery warnings for an email that
was quite long ** frozen ** in the queue. Here's the warning:

------ snip -------
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 576 hours on the queue on mail-in1.iphh.de.

The message identifier is: 144KUa-0007tt-00
The date of the message is: Fri, 08 Dec 2000 11:15:57 +0100
The subject of the message is: Ciao

The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:

  office@???
Delay reason: lowest numbered MX record points to local host

No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you.
------ snap -------

When looking at "exim -bp", we see the mail ** frozen **. Is it normal
that Exim keeps sending warnings for these messages? And if yes, is it
possible to turn this off?

Regards,
Sascha
