Odd that people manage to find such confidence in conclusions they draw
from thinly-stretched assumptions. It's UW-IMAP, out of the University of
Washington in Seattle (www.washington.edu) - and it has absolutely nothing
to do with wu-ftpd, which was originally developed by someone at
Washington University in St. Louis (www.wustl.edu).

UW-IMAP is very good software in my experience with deploying and
maintaining it at a number of mid-size ISPs. It has had its bugs
(occasionally security-related), but then, that's true of most mature
software whose codebase can be traced back to earlier, more friendly
(might I suggest _better_) times. I think that the kind souls who develop
software for others to use free of charge deserve gratitude and respect,
whether their software suits my current requirements or not.
