Hi Roger,

I haven't heard anything from Philip yet in regards to this, but if it is
going to work, by all means. I can't really see why not.

Because of Exim's modular? support and configurations certain users may
still even go as far as to not compile in and use the Perl DBI if it is not
needed, thus the performance drop will not affect them at all because its
not used.

I'll be really really really happy if something like this can be done,
because as I mentioned in my previous post, I have to (unfortunately), rely
on Microsoft technologies for certain aspects of my organisation. Now
Microsoft (regardless of popular belief) is not so bad anymore - talking
from the 2000 range of products. At the moment, I have W2K Professional
here, and its a killer.

If there are ways to use cross platform databases, I'm really interested to
hear about them. Having Exim use a MS database is just the start of my
mission. In the long run, I personally, wish to see this type of support
regarding databases just about in any product or service. Imagine Linux's
PAM doing authentication from within SQL or other Databases?

You can immediately use all your authentication through any application or
OS version you like. Be it Windows, be it Linux, be it IBM (OS//2), or even
a Apple MAC.

But in anycase...

Thanks for the info, and I guess the discussion should rather take place
between some of the developers of Exim from here on ?
