Hmm, good example :-) However, I suspect that nowadays people (e.g. 'tom')
would simply send the message and mention Dick and Harry in the text:

      Tom, Dick and Harry are having party. RSVP to Dick.


Could be wrong of course...:-) Either way I get your point.
