OK I've but in the suggested lines, but exim didn't like the line "
maildir_format " It kept erroring out with that line. I commeted that line
out and it starts up, but I don't think it's working. I tried sending
messages to user1, and user2 (they don't have accounts) but I can't see
anything in /var/spool/mail and it didn't create anything called
"everything"
I did see the messages I sent in /var/spool/exim/input I have no idea what
that folder is for.
Sorry for all the newbee quesitons but I really appreciate the help.

Perhaps:
local_domains = *
# transports...
store_everything:
driver = appendfile
directory = /var/spool/mail/everything
prefix = ""
suffix = ""
maildir_format
# directors...
everything:
driver = smartuser
transport = store_everything
