I'm new to exim and so I'm quite lost with this problem. I have a user, johndoe, who has an mail account on another ISP, johndoe@???, and we are trying through an alias file ( /etc/exim/domains ) to relay email to him. Within the domain file there is an entry for johndoe.com and a file in /etc/exim called johndoe.com that has entries of the format:
sales: johndoe@???
When messages are sent to this account, johndoe@??? for example, they get frozen and I receive a message in the mainlog to the effect:
1999-09-15 11:53:00 11Qzzf-0000z0-00 == johndoe@??? <johndoe@???> routing defer (-32); retry time not reached.
From what I've seen so far, thawing the message causes it to be frozen once again. The ISP account accepts mail directly and other email addresses work correctly in that domain. Is there some steps I could try to correct this problem? What exactly does routing defer (-32) mean? Any assitance or clues would be much appreciated.
